The Ananich Legacy Foundation's primary goal is to introduce individuals from diverse backgrounds to the legislative process. The Fellowship Program will connect participants with mentorship, professional development, and training opportunities that will equip them to successfully enter the legislative workforce.
This 12 week paid Fellowship Program will assist juniors and seniors in college (or individuals who are simply looking for a career change) with securing a competitive field placement in a legislative office, based on their areas of interest. The goal is for individuals to continue their legislative careers upon completion of the fellowship.

Jim Ananich has seen some stuff. From being the leader of Michigan’s Senate Democratic Caucus as the Flint Water Crisis ripped through his hometown to serving in that role while the state navigated a global pandemic, Jim has always used a people-first philosophy to push policies and responses that keep people safe, stronger, and healthier.
Growing up in Flint taught Jim the value of hard work and importance of a community that stands up for each other, which led him to pursue a career of service. After graduating from Michigan State University's James Madison College, he worked in Washington D.C. for Congressman Dale Kildee, taught at Carman Ainsworth High School, and was elected to the Flint City Council and the State Legislature. His two-full terms leading the Senate Democratic Caucus is the most of any Caucus leader in Michigan’s term-limit era. In this position - and even before - he found success advancing bipartisan legislation that helped workers through economic downtimes, families have access to healthy foods and clean water, and better resources for local communities to invest in services and infrastructure.
Jim knew that even more was possible if there were changes in who controlled the agenda in statehouses in Michigan and across the country, so he stepped up to serve on the national Board of the Democratic Legislative Leadership Council. There he worked with legislative leaders from every region to flip multiple chambers. And in Michigan, his multi-cycle efforts leading campaigns resulted in the State Senate achieving Democratic control for the first time in 40 years.
This belief in the power of decision makers to use their positions to benefit their communities has led Jim to his current role as President and CEO of the Greater Flint Health Coalition, on which he has served as a board member since 2011. He has lived in this community his entire life and even lives with his wife Andrea, son Jacob, and dog Lucky, in the same neighborhood in which he grew up.

Dylan Luna grew up on the Southside of Flint as the oldest of six children. His mother always emphasized the importance of earning a good education because it was a “Golden Ticket” out of poverty. As a result, Dylan went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations Policy from the James Madison College at Michigan State University, Master of Arts in Urban Education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint. He also recently completed a Certificate in Education Finance from Georgetown University.

In this space, he worked with state legislators and other key stakeholders to advocate for educational equity, fair funding, and common-sense solutions to improve opportunity for students across multiple states, including Michigan.
In his current role as a Global Attraction Representative at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Dylan manages business attraction and marketing activities to promote domestic and foreign direct investment in the state.
